A long time ago, when the El was whole and stable, Fenriart and Hernia were step-siblings that were part of the Solace Clan. Fenriart was a gifted user of El energy and was poised to become the Master of the Sun. The events that would start it all unfolded when he encountered his step-sister, Hernia, being bullied by their step-brother, Sigmund. It would happen frequently where Fenriart would keep Sigmund from actively harming Hernia. It was through this series of events that the two found out about their shared Rubenian Bloodline through the necklaces which they inherited from their mothers and the two eventually shared a bond.

Their step-brother Sigmund wanted to harness Hernia's El energy so he could become the most powerful El user in the family thereby inheriting the Master of the Sun title instead of Fenriart. When Fenriart found out, he confronted Sigmund. They ended up in a fight that resulted in Sigmund's death. And fearing that more harm might come her way, Fenriart hatched the plan to take Hernia and run away from the family.

On Ishmael's Night when the two planned to escape, Fenriart waited in the garden but Hernia was nowhere to be seen. Growing worried about Hernia, Fenriart made his way back to where she was, only to eventually find out that Hernia was chosen to be the successor of the El Lady. The priests eventually took Hernia away while Fenriart was forced to stay behind.
