  • Dev Diary: Star Ranks, Mount Changes
    April 3rd, 2015

Happy Spring Elpeeps! This weeks Dev Diary covers Star Ranks and recent Mount changes.

    1. Star Ranks

Star Rank is a feature currently available in KR Elsword which is the highest PVP rank awarded to the top 100 PVP players or top 1% of SSS rank players. Star Ranks are renewed every week and players are given a title that can be used for 7 days.

Back when Season 3 was released last year, we mistakenly announced that the Star Rank was being added. Due to technical limitations, we had to overturn that statement. Unfortunately, the reason Star Rank was never added is because these ranks cannot be automatically distributed in- game, and we did not have a system in place at that time to execute these rank distributions.

Luckily, not all news is bad news! Since Season 3, we have been proactively developing this distribution system, because we understand just how important it is to add more features to Elsword’s PVP system. We believe that the Star Ranks, and all of the perks that come with it, would create that extra competitive atmosphere, and add more excitement to playing with your fellow players on a weekly basis. The good news is that the new Star Rank distribution system is almost ready!

We estimate it will be rolled out at the end of the month. We will reveal more details as soon as possible.

    2. Mount Changes

Two big changes to Elsword Mount functionality had been recently applied with 3/31 patch:
C Skill Mana Consumption increased to 250 and Stamina for all mounts was increased by 20%.

We received a lot of feedback regarding the C Skill Mana Consumption increase. The C Skill for mounts is usually the strongest skill available. Depending on the mount, the C Skill typically provides great dungeon-room-clearing and massive boss-nuking capabilities.

Based on an in-depth analysis of data collected on the overall usage of the Mount C Skills in all Dungeon and Field environments, we believe that in order to achieve optimal game balance for this skill, the Mana consumption needed to be increased. By design, the most powerful Mount Skill available is supposed be more challenging to acquire and cast. With that game-balance concept in mind, this change was applied to counteract the ability to cast the C Skill rapidly.

We still will be monitoring the data after this change and also welcome your feedback.
